Facts About the Temple

Through vision, prayer, dedication, determination and divine intervention, the World Headquarters of the Church Of God In Christ was completed and opened for occupancy in 1945. It was a befitting climax to an arduous undertaking by an African American group, that the year of completion was also the year of Jubilee for the denomination.

Through the vision and guidance of the Founder and Chief Apostle, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason, the saints began a project in 1940 to build an edifice for worship. The saints would face many obstacles, but because of their faith in God’s ability to do what the world called impossible, the Temple was dedicated and the Saints experienced Holy Convocation in the new worship center. As you read this booklet you will see the resolve of the people of God to go forward in faith allowing nothing (war, economic depression,) to hinder the work of the Lord.
